Storm Brews in North Bengal; Kolkata, Five districts to witness 40 kmph thunderstorm for two days
Kolkata: Just as the south Bengal region has gone through two stormy days due to cyclone Fani, a thunderstorm is now brewing in north Bengal.
The weather office today said that parts of north Bengal are likely to witness a thunderstorm tomorrow and the day after (8 and 9 May).

It will be a storm gusting up to 40 kmph, mostly confined to the districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, and Cooch Behar districts.
A cyclonic circulation over sub-Himalayan Bengal and neighbourhood is behind the probable thunderstorm, which is likely to partially affect normal life in the region on the two days.
The storm will blow away after latest by 10 May morning but the weather in the five districts will remain wet till 12 May. There will be a light to moderate rainfall in isolated areas, the weather office has said.
The forecast comes even as in the post-cyclone Fani season, the temperature in Kolkata and rest of south Bengal is steadily rising.
The weather office has ruled out the possibility of rain here at least till 11 May.
Today, 7 May, Kolkata got tormented by the mercury that clocked 37.2 degree Celsius. This is up by two notches than normal.
But it is Bankura that recorded the state’s maximum temperature at 40.2 degree Celsius, followed by Asansol at 40 degree Celsius.
The mercury in Kolkata is likely to be around 38-39 degree Celsius tomorrow and the weather will be humid and discomforting.
