Darjeeling: Kalimpong police on Thursday's attached properties of a former GTA member, Nima Tamang, for failing to appear before court in cases related to last year's agitation.
Sources said the movable and immovable properties of Tamang were attached from his Seed Farm residence in Kalimpong.

Tamang is believed to be on the run and lawyers say he has repeatedly failed to appear in court.
"The additional district and sessions judge, Kalimpong, had issued a proclamation directing Tamang to appear in court on September 10. He, however, failed to appear on the specified date," said a source.

The proclamation was issued on July 30. A warrant of arrest was also pending against Tamang, charged for offences including attempt to murder. Following the attachment of Tamang's properties, hearings of other accused in the case can be continue.
On August 1, the CID, with the help of Darjeeling police, had attached properties of Bimal Gurung from his Patlebash residence in Darjeeling.
The chief judicial magistrate's court had similarly directed Gurung to appear before court in a case related to clashes between Gorkha Janmukti Morcha supporters and the police on June 8, 2017. The violence took place barely 100 meters from the Raj Bhavan where chief minister Mamata Banerjee was holding a cabinet meeting.
