64': That disappointment notwithstanding, Iran continue to press forward. Football can be cruel sometimes. This game is not over yet

62': GOAL! Iran equalise! Wait, the referee has his hand raised. What's happening? They are going for the VAR. Possibly looking for offside. And replays confirm. Ezatolahi was offside. Goal has been ruled out. A free kick to Iran and Sardar gets a deflection off his head before Ezatolahi drove it past De Gea. He, however, was in an offside position during Sardar's header.

45'+2': A superb piece of defending denies Silva who shoots from just outside the box

45'+3': Three minutes of added time to this listless half. But credit to Iran to have snuffed out every Spain move that looked even remotely threatening.

39': Now Iran goalie Beiranvand is down. Replays show him and Costa having a word. And just like that, Beiranvand acts out as his Costa stomped on his left foot. Spain aren't impressed with his theatrics. Costa, however, did make contact with his toe.

37': You can close your eyes and the roar will make it clear that Iran have the possession. The crowd has gone vocal. Corner for Iran. Ramos heads one behind to concede the corner. Karim takes it but it amounts to nothing. Meanwhile, captain of Iran has been injured here. Play halted. He looks in considerable pain.

18': The tiki taka football in full flow from Spain. Iran have formed a solid defensive wall
