Aparajita Rai first female Gorkha IPS from Sikkim
In India, most of the kids, who lose their parents are left to the mercy of others to somehow manage to live their dreams. The story of Aparajita Rai, who has become the first woman Gorkha IPS officer from Sikkim, leaves everyone inspired.

She lost her father, a divisional forest officer in Sikkim, when she was only 8-year-old. It was the biggest loss she could have ever got at that tender age. However, as she grew up she never gave up on her dreams to bring a change in the system by being a part of it.

According to Assam Online Portal, after Aparajita’s father passed away, her mother, Roma Rai, brought her up. Being a teacher herself Roma knew how to nurture the dreams of kids and inspire them to follow it up with efforts.

Aparajita excelled in the academics and graduated with BA LLB (Hons) from West Bengal National University of Judicial Sciences.

In the CSE 2010, she cleared the exam with 768th rank. She appeared again in 2011 and cleared the exam again in 2012 with 358th rank.

She failed in her first attempt for the UPSC exams. However, she bounced back and cleared it the next year, securing the highest marks ever secured by someone in Sikkim.

According to NDTV, while speaking of the passion that keeps her driven, Aparajita said, “Anyone who comes to me should not face the same harassment or agony which people generally encounter in government offices.”
