GTA urges guv in Darjeeling to take action against state govt

 Governor Kesharinath Tripathi
A delegation of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration called on Governor Kesharinath Tripathi late on Wednesday evening at the Raj Bhavan in Darjeeling and urged him to start an official inquiry against the state government for undue interference in the council’s works.
The delegation informed Tripathi that as per the tripartite meeting between the state and central governments and the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, it was decided the state government would not interfere in the GTA’s works. Despite this understanding, the state government is interfering in the administration’s development works in the hills, resulting in unnecessary delays, said the delegation members. The governor has assured to look into the issue and take steps accordingly. (HS)
