More officials to join team GTA auditing in Darjeeling

Six more officials of the audit and accounts services will join the team that went to Darjeeling for special audit of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA). With six more officials joining the team, there will be a total of 12 officials to carry out the entire process of the audit. The step to add more number of officials in the team has been taken to expedite the work of preparing the audit report. It may be mentioned that the state government would be taking legal steps if any discrepancy is found in the audit report and FIR would be lodged against those who will be accused of the "misappropriation of funds". According to the sources in Nabanna, the six more officials will be going to Darjeeling soon. The team of the first six officials led by Deputy Commissioner Jayanta Majumdar has initiated the work to prepare the audit report on Friday. The team will be submitting the preliminary report to the state government within 10 days and it was felt that more officials are needed to complete the task as early as possible. GTA has received Rs 1,000 crore from the state government in the past three years and Rs 200 crore from the Centre in each of the past three years. It was alleged that the utilisation certificate of the money that has been given to the GTA to undertake developmental work was not submitted.
