Ranbir Kapoor starts shooting for Jagga Jasoos in Darjeeling

Ranbir Kapoor shooting Jagga Jasoos in Darjeeling chowrastha
The first day of shooting in the Queen of the hills for the Bollywood flick ‘Jagga Jasoos’ started early in the morning today here at the Chowrasta area, in Darjeeling and Ranbir Kapoor, who is playing the lead, was seen in many getups through the course of the day.
If he was spotted in a grey pullover at five in the morning shooting for a song sequence at Mall Road for which he was taken around in the back of a pickup van, a couple of hours later he was seen standing outside a bookstore in Chowrasta donning a blue jacket and green pants with a plastic-like transparent substance wrapped around his head, and grabbing a person by the collar to hand him over to the police.
In the afternoon, the superstar was seen in a green blazer up at St. Paul’s School. The film shows Ranbir as studying in that school, although incidentally, green is not the actual colour of the uniform at St. Paul’s.
Speaking to reporters in the midst of the shooting, director Anurag Basu said, “We have completed shooting most of the film in a year and a half and you can say the shoots here are for the last remaining portions of the movie. Once we are done here, we will wind up with some scenes in Morocco. Jagga Jasoos will in all likelihood release between July and September of this year. The scenes being shot here comprise flashbacks into Ranbir’s character during his school days.”
He went on, “I have an emotional contact with Darjeeling but it was not before Barfi did I get an opportunity to shoot here. Now, I want to put a part of Darjeeling in every film I make whenever I get the opportunity. Not just me, but my entire crew is keen to come to Darjeeling, and especially my cameraman, who keeps on asking when we will be shooting here. There are many hill stations across the country, but Darjeeling has its own charm, with the most wonderful aspect being the people.” Basu also said his grandmother, Vasuna Majumdar, had studied in one of the schools here during her childhood.
A good crowd had gathered in the morning at Chowrasta to watch the superstar perform. Twenty-three year old Usha Pradhan said, “I heard late in the evening yesterday that Ranbir was in Darjeeling and I did not want to miss the chance to be up close with him. When he shot for Barfi in 2012, I was not in Darjeeling then. I was really excited to see him and when I waved at him he waved back.”
The shooting itinerary includes Bhutia Busty in Darjeeling town, followed by Mirik and Sukna. Ranbir and the film crew are expected to stay in the hills for some five days. (EOIC)
