GNLF - GJM cadres clash in Kalimpong Damber Chowk
The heart of Kalimpong town Damber Chowk turned into a virtual battleground when GJM and GNLF cadres clashed.

According to sources, yesterday around 10: 30 in the morning GNLF cadres were pasting posters requesting shopkeepers to down their shutters between 1 P.M to 3 P.M when the dead body of the slain Gorkha National Students Front (GNSF), GNLF's student wing Kalimpong Sub-Division President Bivek Rasaily would be taken for cremation.

When they arrived at Damber Chowk they met with a group of GJM cadres, and heated words were exchanged between the groups.

In the ensuing fight, two of the GNLF cadres 35 year old Subash Ghatani and 45 year old Dinesh Pradhan have been grievously injured. Both of them have been referred to Siliguri for treatment.

It may be recalled that Late. Bivek Rasaily was stabbed to death on the 1st of January, 2015 in a clash between two different picnic groups in Tribeni. The GNLF has accused that Rasaily's killing could be planned to silence the opposition voices in the hills, and they have thus demanded a high level probe into his murder.

Following the fight, Kalimpong town became tensed, and people were seen rushing back to their homes, without doing their Saturday Haat shopping.

GNLF has filed an FIR against 9 GJM cadres, including Sabhasad Nima Tamang. In the FIR it has been alleged that the whole fight was orchestrated by Nima Tamang to create tension in the region.

GNLF has demanded immediate arrest of the perpetrators, and have said that if the police fails to arrest the culprits within 24 hours, then they will not be responsible for the ensuing problem in the region.
