Cable Operator to stop Zee TV and its affiliate channels in Sikkim
Following the irrational hike in the subscription charge demanded by the channels, All Sikkim Cable Operator’s Association has decided to stop transmission of Zee TV and its affiliate channels in the entire Sikkim from 5th of November 2014.

Association held a meeting on 2nd of November regarding the issue and made a press release to " The Regional Manager, Taj Television India Pvt. Ltd. Kolkata as follows.

In this era of Digital World, people are keen on the new technology and opting for better entertainment. Unfortunately Analog Cable TV Service cannot provide proper signal due to the limitation of its technology.

As yo are aware that several DTH service providers are operating in Sikkim and by providing digital quality TV transmission these DTH players have penetrated a large mass of sbscribers who earlier connected to our cable TV networks causing massive reduction in our subscriber base.

During these time of difficulty, paying huge subscription charge as demanded by you is becoming a great burden for us and we all are not in a position to pay that much amount at all, which we have jointly decided to drop your entire channel bouquet (Zee & its affiliate channels) from 5th of November 2014.

As per the demand of time and Goverment guidelines, we are gearing for the Digitalization despite many difficulties in our hilly terrain. And as expected by the entire industry, we are also hoping for sharp increase in our subscriber base after complete digitization after which we may pay as per the actual subscriber base.

Keeping this scenario in mind we the All Sikkim Cable Operators' Association would like to request you to consider the case by reducing 50% of subscriber base of each Cable Operator of Sikkim.
