Subash Ghisingh to meet supporters on his 80th birthday
The chief of the Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF), Subash Ghisingh, who has kept a low profile ever since he returned to Darjeeling around three months ago, is likely to come out of his seemingly self-imposed exile. 
Come 22 June, the former Darjeeling strongman is all set to meet his followers, supporters, and well-wishers “openly”, as he celebrates his 80th birthday at his Jakir Hussain Road residence in Darjeeling. Mr Ghisingh returned to Darjeeling on 19 March from Matigara in Siliguri where he had been staying in a rented house for several years, following his ouster from Darjeeling during the advent of the Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha and the political unrest that gripped Darjeeling Hills.
“It is not that he is not meeting his supporters presently, but he has been very selective and does so only if the occasion demands,” the sources
said. Importantly, on the occasion of and ahead of the Lok So much so, he even did not venture out of his house on the day Darjeeling voted in the Lok Sabha elections on 17 April. 
 Even on the occasion of the Sixth Schedule ‘Accord Day’ on 6 December last year, Mr Ghisingh did not attend a meeting organized at Simulbarie under the Kurseong Sub Division, leaving many of his loyalists and dedicated supporters dissatisfied(sns)
